Cranky Monkey Racers Battle It Out At Fountainhead!
Racers were treated to unseasonably cool temps in the second race of the Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series held yesterday at Fountainhead Regional Park in Fairfax Station, VA. Close to 250 racers in 15 classes battled it out on this technically challenging course riddled with steep hills and rock laden twisty single-track. Thanks to all the racers, volunteers, sponsors, and spectators for helping to make it all happen!

Under blue skies and relatively mild temperatures, close to 80 athletes toed the line yesterday for the running of the Cranky Monkey Make Up Race at Wakefield Park. The perfect trail conditions resulted in some super fast lap times as racers in the expert, sport male 34-U, and open classes battled it out at the opening race of their series. The Cranky Monkey Strikes Again!
The sixth annual Cranky Monkey Mountain Bike Series kicked off yesterday as athletes battled it out on the very fun course at Wakefield Park in Annandale, VA. The day was filled with intense competition, high spirits, and eventually, some nasty weather. The wrath of Mother Nature held off for the first three races but lightning and heavy rains engulfed the area right before the start of the 1:30pm race. For safety and to protect of the trails, we decided to postpone the final race to another day. It seemed like déjà vu as a very similar situation required us to shorten the final Wakefield cross country race in 2007. The Monkey is back and he is Cranky!

The Bushwhacker Adventure Running Race Was A HUGE Success!
The Bushwhacker Adventure Running Race yesterday was tons of fun and a huge success! Athletes rose to the challenge of running/navigating their way approximately 10 miles from Fountainhead Regional Park to Hemlock Overlook. The main rules required racers to travel on foot, stay within park boundaries, and visit three checkpoints/aid stations along the way. Racers loved the ability to follow a well traveled trail but also the freedom to choose their own route, bushwhacking any portion of the ‘course’. It was a great day!

Adventure Racers Face The Challenge At Rocky Gap!
Sunday’s Rocky Gap Adventure Race involved less strategic decision making than the Greenhorn AR but required tons of endurance and good navigation skills. The race was scouted at 24 miles, our longest and most grueling Rocky Gap AR to date. Despite the tough terrain, steep climbs, and long miles racers were all smiles when closing the finish line. What an awesome accomplishment!

Adventure Racers Face The Challenge At Rocky Gap!
Close to 500 adventure racers challenged themselves this past weekend at beautiful Rocky Gap State Park in Western Maryland. On Saturday, novice adventure racers pushed their limits in the Greenhorn AR, a demanding 14 mile course filled with canoeing, trekking, mountain biking, swimming/tubing, and plenty of decision making. It was inspiring to watch so many new adventure racers accept and overcome the challenge!
